Treatment Approach

Anxiety is a normal part of life.

In fact, having some degree of anxiety is essential if we are to foresee and meet the challenges of our lives. As the philosopher Kierkegaard noted, “Whoever is educated by anxiety is educated by possibility.”

But for some people, anxiety becomes overwhelming and contributes to difficulties in work, school, relationships, health, and diminishes overall quality of life. For those individuals, therapy can help restore balance and increase life satisfaction.

If you choose to work with me, you will receive treatment based on up-to-date research and evidence-based practices. I believe that treatment should be collaborative, active, efficient, compassionate, and results-driven.

Research demonstrates that there are several effective approaches to treating anxiety, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). But getting the right “brand” of treatment is not enough; you also need a well-trained therapist with strong interpersonal skills, depth of experience, and unmistakable craft in order to reap the full benefits of therapy.
